Arrival at the airport

On August 8th from 09:00-0:00, there will be a "Wikimania Welcome Desk" at the international arrivals hall at the airport. They will be able to point you in the right direction for transportation as well as answer questions about Montréal. If you arrive in the domestic arrivals hall and would like to visit the Welcome Desk, simply walk to the other end of the terminal (arrivals level) 2 minutes away. The distance between the two arrival halls is a 1 minute walk (0.11 miles).

There are two simple ways to get to downtown Montreal from the airport: taxi for a fixed price of CAD 40 (approx. USD 31 / € 29 / £ 25) or public bus number 747 (STM) for CAD 10 (approx. USD 8 / € 8 / £ 7). Bus 747 leaves every ten minutes, and has a stop directly in front of the venue. Tickets can be purchased onboard the bus, which only accepts coins. Public transit day passes, which include access to the 747 bus and also cost CAD 10 (approx. USD 8 / € 8 / £ 7), are available from automated dispensers located in the international arrivals hall (only), which accept credit card payments. The 747 bus stop is right outside the international arrivals.

Το μετρό και δημόσια μεταφοράς

The city of Montréal is well-covered by an extensive network of public transportation and roads. Public transportation in Montréal is covered by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), which operates the buses and subway trains. For those who live in the suburbs, a greater organization called the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) manages and operates overland trains.

The tickets for the subway are sold through automated kiosks or in person. You can get a OPUS RFID card for simplified public transit, or a tourist pass for 3 or 4 days.

The subway is open from 5:30 AM daily and closes between 00:35 and 01:30.

Ταξί και Uber

Taxi services are reliable, well-regulated and widespread throughout Montréal. In addition to regular app-accessible commercial taxi companies such as Taxi Coop and Taxi Diamond, the downtown area around the venue is serviced by eco-friendly and affordable service TéoTaxi. Uber services are also active and highly popular with both riders and drivers in Montréal. Taxis are available for a fixed price of CAD $40 (approx. USD 31 / € 29 / £ 25) Plan for an approx. 30 minutes travel time.

Δημόσια ποδήλατα Bixi

Τα ενοικιαζόμενα δημόσια ποδηλάτα Bixi είναι διαθέσιμα σε όλη την πόλη.

For those who prefer to cycle, Montreal has a public bike rental system (BIXI) with over 5000 bikes available from more than 450 Bixi stations. Passes can be purchased from any station or in advance from the Bixi web site; a 24 hour pass is available for $5. An app can be downloaded to tell you which station has bikes available, and which ones have space to return bikes. An online map gives the same information.
