Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)

Track "D" of the 2017 Movement strategy process focuses on research, discussions, and input from new and existing readers and partners in lower awareness regions, meaning in countries or languages (markets) where the movement is not well-known. We will share the research/findings from many countries in Asia and Eastern Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Africa with a focus on six priority countries, namely Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, Egypt, India, and Indonesia.

In this session, we will present:

  • Insights gathered from over 150 in-depth interviews with thought leaders, influencers and experts in knowledge, communities, and technology associated with our movement now, as well as other social impact organizations outside the movement.
  • Findings from New Readers design research conducted in Indonesia and Brazil
  • Insights gathered local workshops conducted in India, Nigeria, and Mexico with the participation of social movement experts and local Wikimedia communities.
What will attendees take away from this session?

Attendees will leave the session with a better understanding of the trends, challenges, and expectations for the Wikimedia movement voiced by lower awareness regions of the world that represents at least 75% of the global population.
