Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal): The Wikipedia "Gendergap" is officially a participation problem on the English Wikipedia project whereby the number of female contributors is less than 15% of the total. Participation is necessary for content creation across the projects, and we can't measure editor gender without surveys, but we see a correlation between confirmed editor gender and surveyed editor gender. We say "Wikipedia Gendergap" only because other projects have not been surveyed for gender, but the same effects of the Gendergap can be seen on Commons and Wikidata. As a member of the WMNL Gendergap workgroup I am always looking for ways to measure the effects of the Gendergap. Our lack of female eyes on things in the Wikiverse results in a general lack of Wikilove for female-related things. How can we measure a "lack of something"? The "Women in Red" project addresses a lack of biographies of notable women, and "Art&Feminism" has concentrated on art by women. How can I measure their progress and what else can I measure? We also lack articles about the daily occupations of women through the centuries, their hobbies and significant achievements. In this talk I quickly round up what I have learned about the Gendergap in the Wikiverse from my work in the Netherlands using Wikidata to measure Gendergap-related indicators for the Dutch Wikipedia. The Netherlands Wikipedia Gendergap was surveyed in 2011 (6%) and in 2015 (11%). To encourage women to participate, we have started a workgroup to brainstorm, make contact with external womens' organizations, and create a project on Dutch Wikipedia to promote the issue and encourage writing articles about women-related topics. The indicators we use can be applied to any other language Wikipedia and may help others to start their own local Gendergap workgroup.
